THEY ARE NOT SLEEPING
S. Lekha

 They are not sleeping still,

But, thinking about their miles to fly

Their feathers are soft like Mom's love,

Like her deep affection to them…

Yes, she is in search of a roost,

Worrying how to stay warm with them

During freezing winter nights…

During scattering windy nights…

She is in dire, hearing sounds of truth,

One of real truths or only one truth,

The whispering of death;

She wonders about those hands,

The invisible hands of cold death;

They are too small, nothing in this world,

How they survive after her death?

The Mom is weeping now,

Only for them, from her heart,

But they are not sleeping yet,

Thinking about their miles to fly…
